Houthi attack on tanker thwarted

Mon Feb 26 09:08:17 CET 2024 Timsen

The Danish-owned 'Torm Thor' was attacked in the Gulf of Aden en route from Tanjung Telepas to Djibouti on Feb 24, 2024, by the Houthi militia with several missiles. However, the attack on the tanker was averted by the American destroyer USS 'Mason', which shot down the ballistic missiles. There was thus no damage to either the warship or the 'Torm Thor', which berthed in Djibouti on Feb 25 at 5 p.m. UTC.

Atempted fuel theft off Lagos

Tue Jul 30 13:14:02 CEST 2019 Timsen

The crew of the "Torm Thor" noticed an unauthorized person jumping overboard with a hose, after noticing strong oil smell near forward cargo tanks, at Apapa-Lagos Anchorage on July 26, 2019, at 03.30 a.m. during routine rounds. The duty crew raised alarm and the crew was mustered. Investigations indicated that the person was trying to steal oil from the cargo tanks. The incident was reported to the Nigerian Navy patrol vessel which was in the vicinity. A search in the surrounding waters was conducted. The ship remained stationary off Lagos as of July 30.
