Breakdown of ferry troubles Seahawk fans

Sat Dec 08 21:40:19 CET 2012 Timsen

Aboard the "Sealth" a leak was discovered in the night of Dec 7, 2012. A routine overnight hull inspection revealed a leaking seam in the hull on the port side of the Sealth, approximately 4 feet below the water line. The "Sealth" was taken out of service starting with the 3 p.m. run and replaced by the "Salish" until Dec 9 night. The "Issaquah" moved from the Vashon Island- Southworth run to the Seattle-Bremerton route. The smaller "Salish" will take its place for at least a week. The "Sealth" will likely remain out of service until Dec. 17. The estimated repair cost is nearly $94,000. The breakdown of the "Sealth" on the Seattle-Bremerton run could pose a problem for fans trying to get to the Seahawks game on Dec 9. Washington State Ferries stated a smaller ferry with a capacity of about 700 people has been called in as a replacement. That ferry is scheduled to make the 9:45 a.m. run from Bremerton to Seattle. Seahawks fans should take the 8:45 a.m. or 11:10 a.m. sailings from Bremerton instead, because those will be served by a bigger ferry.
