Bulk carrier arrived in Tyssedal with stowaway on board

Thu Sep 22 11:28:54 CEST 2022 Timsen

On Sep 20, 2022, the "Thomas Selmer" arrived at the industrial village of Tyssedal in Hardanger, with a stowaway on board. The bulk carrier was to deliver a cargo to the Tizir smelter. It had left Dakar in Senegal on Sep 6, and during the voyage a blind passenger has been found on board. He had hidden in the engine room of the ship before he was discovered several days later. The police boarded the ship after the arrival in port. Underway, he received good treatment on board, and was in a cabin and received good care. The Norwegian authorities have not been in contact with the authorities on the Marshall Islands as flag state, but according to Fjellstad, the ship's owners have provided financial security to send the man back.
