Cook took captain hostage due to a lack of salaries
The crew of the 'Giuse', which has been anchored off Ahırkapı since April 2024, has been unable to receive their salaries for a long time and has not been able to access regular provisions. According to the International Maritime Risk Rating Agency, the ship is operated by the United Arab Emirates-based Trishulin Middle East Ship Management (FZE). The ship's captain took the shipowner hostage and locked him in the provisions on Sep 16, 2024. A boat of the the Turkish Coast Guard Command approached the tanker.
