Fisherman fell over board and was rescued 1,5 hours later
On Sep 3, 2021, a British Fisherman fell overboard from the 'Soidney Rose' off Plymouth and spent 1,5 hours in the relatively cold sea water. He was only wearing shorts and a t-shirt, but fortunately on the day, also a life jacket with a PLB (Personal Locator Beacon). The accident happened approximately seven nautical miles off Plymout at 10.45 a.m. The captain woke from his bunk to find one of his crew was missing as well as a lifejacket. The Falmouth Coastguard set off a huge SAR operation with lifeboats from both Plymouth, Salcombe and Hope Cove as well as the rescue helicopter Rescue 924 from Newquay. He was pulled from the water by Hope Cove lifeboat before being transferred to the Plymouth lifeboat where a paramedic was winched on board to assess the man's condition.
