Wreck removal started 2,5 years after grounding

The dismantling of the 'Thanh Hung 06', which had run aground on Feb 26, 2023, en route from Nhon Trach (Dong Nai Province) to Cam Ranh Port (Khanh Hoa Province) after a rudder failure in the waters off Phuoc Dinh Commune, Khanh Hoa Province, has commenced as of July 7, 2025. The ship had become a popular spot for travel enthusiasts in recent times, but due to the ship's long-term deterioration, local authorities have posted warning signs, prohibiting residents and tourists from approaching the vessel, which had been severely damaged. On April 14, 2025, the Civil Judgment Enforcement Office of Thuan Nam District (formerly Ninh Thuan Province) issued a decision to hand the ship over to the auction winner for dismantling and removal. Since mid-June 2025, the remaining fuel was removed to prevent pollution of the marine environment. The ship's dismantling and salvage will be carried out in stages, ensuring safety and without environmental impact.
