Grounding off Haugesund
In the nigt of Sep 23, 2011, the "Tauranga" got stuck on a shallow during the approach to Haugesund. The ship required assistance by the rescue boat "Bergen Kreds" after it ran aground at Tonjer fire at 1 a.m. Police last night questioned the crew. The crew told they had to to change course when they encountered another vessel which caused the grounding. A diver from the rescue boat was sent down in the night and did not find leaks in the hull, but clear signs of the grounding. The Sjøfartsdirektoratet was routinely notified and had decide whether the ship would be allowed to sail further from Haugesund.
