Grounding in Oro Bay
The "Tao Mariner" ran aground in the Oro Bay in the Solomon Sea on Oct 20, 2015. The ship was being stuck in position 07 54S 147 49E. It had been en route from Fuzhou to Oro Bay when it suffered steering gear failure and grounded in sandy shallow. The bulk carrier was unable to refloat by own power. The local authorities dispatched a tug to refloat the grounded ship and then towed her to the berth. The ship was to be inspected for any damages, but according to preliminary the hull of the ship was not breached.
