Repairs of leakage completed

Aboard the "T. Caroline" permanent repairs in the engine room were carried out by technical teams and divers from seaside. Final tests and inspections were carried out by a Class surveyor. The port master granted departure permission and the vessel sailed from Aliaga on Aug 1, 2018, at 7 a.m. The tanker had suffered water ingress in the engine room, on July 13. The crew stopped the water ingress, and the ship was towed to Kusadasi Anchorage.

The "T. Caroline" with 19 Turkish crew members on board suffered water ingress in the engine room on July 14, 2018, in the Aegean Sea enroute from the Aliağa district to Mersin. at noon The ship which was three miles away from the coast of Kuşadas suffered a blackout and was in danger of sinking. The Kusadasi and Aliağa Harbor port captaincies responded. The ship was taken in tow by the tugs "T. Damla 3" (IMO: 9438119) and "T. Damla 4" (IMO: 9438690) which remained at the tanker’s side since. The ship was moored in pos 38° 42.63' N 026° 27.19' E. The Aydin Metropolitan Municipality Maritime Department and the Fire Department provided additional submersible pumps. The situation could be brought under control in the run of the day, and the response was continued on July 16.
