Cruise aborted after bridge allision

Enroute from Budapest to Passau the "Swiss Diamond" allided with a pillar of the Old Bridge in Bratislava on the Danube in the morning of May 22, 2014, around 9 a.m. The bridge is actually being disassembled and replaced. Several pillars to the bridge remain as hazards in the river.Nine passengers, among them eight women, all belonging to a Spanish tourist group, were injured. Three ambulances and firefighters with a fire boat and one vehicle attended the scene. The cruise ship was towed to a nearby passenger port. Five people taken to two hospitals, among them the University Hospital Bratislava. Four passengers had slight and one moderate to severe injuries. The river cruise had to be aborted, the passengers were taken to Vienna by coaches.
