Wrecked bulker in Douala
On Mar 31, 2014, the "Swift Split" was towed away by the AHTS "Dola" (IMO: 6826793), in the port of Douala (Cameroon), after having been salvaged. Water was being pumped over its starboard side from the cargo holds on Apr 3. Bolloré Africa Logistics, a subsidiary of the Bolloré Group and then owner of the "Swift Split Panama" had jointly beem sentenced to a fine of 25 million FCFA for pollution of the river Wouri in April 2012. In May 2010 the ship had been abandoned in Douala after the crew refused to work and asked to be sent home due to unpaid wages.
