Ferry suffered issues with cooling system
On March 16 at noon, the Port Authority of Patras was informed by the Captain of the 'Superfast II' about a failure in the water cooling system of the generators in the southern port of the port. The ship was to carry out a scheduled route to the ports of Igoumenitsa and Bari with 165 passengers, 56 vehicles and 65 crew members on board. The passengers were informed by the ship-owning company about the departure of another ferry to the port of Ancona. The Central Port Authority of Patras banned the ferry from sailing until the damage was repaired and a certificate of class maintenance was presented by the classification society that monitors it. As of March 18, the ship remained stationary in Patras.
Medevac in Igoumenitsa
The Port Authority of Igoumenitsa was informed in the evening of Aug 12, 2021, that a 50-year-old crew member of the 'Superfast II' which was operating the scheduled route Patras-Igoumenitsa-Bari, was injured inside the ship and needed immediate hospital treatment. The ship sailed to the port of Igoumenitsa, where the man as picked up by an EKAB ambulance and transported to the General Hospital of Filiates. A preliminary investigation was carried out by the relevant Port Authority.
Allision in Patras
In the afternoon of Dec 15, 2018, the "Superfast II" allided with the pier of the new port of Patras upon the departure. It hit it with its starboard side, operating a scheduled service from Patras to Igoumenitsa and Bari with 126 passengers and 56 crew members on board. The ship returned safely to the port, while the Central Port Authority of Patras detained the ferry. After the submission of seaworthiness and class certificates by the relevant classification society the ship was released on Dec 16 at 12.15 a.m.
