Ferry lost anchor during docking manoever

Mon May 19 10:14:44 CEST 2025 Timsen

On the evening of May 16, 2025, the Naxos Port Authority was informed that the 'Superrunner Express' lost its anchor during its second attempt to dock at the port, due to the adverse weather conditions prevailing in the area. The ship was carrying 134 passengers, five vehicles and had 38 crew members on board. The ship was operating a scheduled route from the ports of Rafina-Andros-Tinos-Mykonos-Paros-Naxos. Due to the inability to dock at the port of Naxos, the ferry remained outside the port. Subsequently, with the assistance of the tug 'Karapiperis New Generation', it finally docked at the port of Naxos, safely disembarking the passengers and vehicles. The Naxos Port Authority initially banned the ship from sailing, while upon the presentation of a certificate of class maintenance by the classification society that monitors it, the ban was lifted and the ship sailed for a single voyage without passengers to the port of Lavrio. A preliminary investigation was being conducted by the Naxos Port Authority.

Mechanical damage off Rafina

Wed Jun 12 11:32:45 CEST 2019 Timsen

The "SuperRunner" suffered a mechanical damage short after leaving the port of Rafina on June 12, 2019, at 7.15 a.m. and had to return to the port while serving the route Tinos-Mykonos-Paros-Santorini with 317 passengers and 70 vehicles on board. Under the care of the shipowner, passengers and vehicles will be transported to their destinations by the "Superferry" that runs the same route but was ultimately destined for Heraklion. The "Superrunner" was detained until the damage was rectified and a seaworthiness certificate from the competent classification society issued.
