Medevac off La Hague
On Oct 29, 2013, at 2:15 p.m. the "Stolt Focus" requested medical assistance of the CROSS Joburg after one of his crew members, a Russian of 62 years, had lost consciousness. The tanker was 18 miles northwest of La Hague in the traffic separation zone Casquets en route to Rotterdam. The CROSS Joburg immediately organized a conference call with the Center for Marine Medical Consultation in Toulouse and the maritime medical coordination Le Havre, to get an initial diagnosis. A medevac to the University Hospital of Caen was recommended. An EC- 225 helicopter of the Navy Base in Maupertus was dispatched to the tanker with a team of the medical center of the army in Querqueville on board.
