Knester stuck with herring

Thu Oct 06 10:04:23 CEST 2011 Timsen

On Oct 3, 2011, the "Knester" ran aground in Sommarøy port with a cargo of 1270 tons herring on board. The "Knester" came straight from thethe Norwegian Sea, west of Vesterålen, almost midway between Norway and Iceland. Fully loaded with herring it obviously had a size problem in the small port with sand bars. The ship was waiting for the tide to rise to get refloated after pumping out ballast water.
