Police launched sunk in collision with tank barge raised
On Dec 17, 2013, the Austrian police boat "Fischa" was recovered from the Danube, about seven weeks after it sank following the collision with the "Stadt Wörth" 2042 ts (EU-No.: 04302860) on Oct 29. The wreck was raised between the Brigittenauer- and Reichs Bridge about 4 p.m. after some troubles. The salvage had started eight hours earlier with a crane barge after the wreck had been located upside down on the river bottom start of the month in a depth of nine meters. Three divers attached ropes which tore off two times before the wreck was pulled up with its bow first. Tanker sank police launch
In the evening of Oct 29, 2013, at 8.20 p.m. the "Stadt Wörth" was in collision with the Austrian police boat "Fischa" on the Danube in Vienna. Both ships were sailing downstream on parallel course when the accident happened near the Brigittenauer Bridge by yet unknown reasons. The two policemen saved themselves by jumping into the water and swam to the shore. Both were treated in intensive care for hypothermia in a hospital. They could not yet be questioned. The tanker had continued its voyage and was stopped at the Freudenau lock. The prosecutors in Vienna launched an investigation against the master. The police boat was still on the river bottom.
