Grounding on the Neckar

On Jan 21, 2020, around 11 p.m. the ‘Stadt Heilbronn’, 2619 ts (EU-No.: 04804670; CS: DF 3704), sailing downstream on the Neckar enroute from Heilbronn to Ludwigshafen, ran aground in Mannheim in pos. 49° 31.12' N 008° 26.07' E near the Kurpfalz Bridge with a cargo of industry salt on board. It was thought the ship had too much loaded. The marine police Mannheim secured the accident site. On Jan 22 two lighter ships were called to remove part of the cargo with a dredger. On Jan 23 the 'Stadt Heilbronn' had the bunker tanker ‘Rheintank 14‘ (MMSI: 211507050) alongside.
