Grounding on the Rhine

Underneath the Hohenzollern Bridge in Colonia the ‘Laboremus‘, 2962 ts (EU-No.: 07001818),ran aground on the Rhine in the foremidday of Aug 8, 2019. The ship was coming from Düsseldorf and was loaded with coal, when it got stuck at the right river shore at river km 688,5. The passing ship traffic was not hampered. The water police Colonia attended short time later. The Dutch container barge ‘Nova‘, 5010 ts (MMSI: 244660493), took the casualty alongside and managed to pull it off the shallow at 11.45 a.m. The 'Laboremus' was then able to continue the voyage to Oosterhout. The police launched an investigation against the 53-year old master as he had not reported the grounding immediately as required.
