SIDER MONICA 9432517

Sat Jul 24 11:56:33 CEST 2010 Timsen

The "Monica C" on July 22, 2010, sheared off the towing cable of the Panama-flagged tank m/v "New Horizons" (IMO-No. 5371583) which was just being towed out of the anchorage, while the "Monica C" was approaching the pilot station of Puerto Cabello with a speed of 10 knots. Before, the "Monica C." did not reduce the speed which she was asked to do by the port control, After the incident the vessel was towed into port with 3 tugs, obviously having suffered damage to the rudder/propeller by the towing cable. By July 23 the "Monica C." was berthed in port.
