Medevac off Brest
On Jan 26, 2015, at 11:06 p.m., the CROSS Etel was alerted that a Filipino crew member of the "Shanghai Express" fell ill. After a conference call between the Médical Maritime Consultation Center (MMCC) in Germany and the "Shanghai Express" a medical evacuation was decided. The ship was 160 nautical miles southwest off Brest. The CROSS Etel alerted a Cayman helicopter of the naval air base Lanvéoc- Poulmicwhich took off with a medical a team on board. At 1:55 p.m., the Cayman reached the ship and hoisted the patient who was taken to the hospital in the Cavale Blanche in Brest where he was delivered at 3:10 p.m.
