Cruise ship to be retired after 28 years of service for Regent Seven Seas Cruises
The Regent Seven Seas Cruises will dispose of the 'Seven Seas Navigator' in Oct 2026. The ship, which has been part of the fleet since 1999, will underake three farewell cruises between Aug and Oct 2026. The farewell cruise will include a twelve-day voyage from Le Havre to Barcelona, followed by a nine-day cruise through the Western Mediterranean. The ship's final voyage will be a 14-day cruise from Istanbul to Rome. The retirement of the Seven Seas Navigator is part of a fleet modernization strategy. The cruise line has expanded its fleet with newer, larger ships in recent years. For the 'Seven Seas Navigator's final voyages, various onboard events are planned to honor the ship and its long-serving crew. Medevac off Punta Rasca
On May 21, 2024, the 'Seven Seas Navigator', en route from Cape Verde to Barcelona, requested the medical evacuation of a crew member 11.5 miles southeast of Punta Rasca. The CCS Tenerife of Salvamento Marítimo mobilized the SAR helicopter Helimer 201, which hoisted the patient and transported him to the Tenerife South airport for transfer to the hospital for medical treatment on a higher level.
Cruise ship quarantined due to coronavirus case
The 'Seven Seas Navigotor' with 450 people on board has been quarantined in the port of Barcelona since May 21, 2020, after a female crew member was tested positive for the new coronavirus. The Spanish Ministry of Health explained in a statement that it had been informed of the presence of a crew member presenting mild symptoms compatible with the coronavirus on board the cruise ship. The test then turned out to be positive. The Ministry of Health has granted exceptional authorization to disembark this crew member who had been isolated. The rest of the crew aboard the vessel have no reported symptoms but remained in quarantine.
