Despite negative Covid-19 test crew remains isolated
None of the 30 crew members of the 'Scirocco' was infected the coronaviruses. Even the 1st officer, who had initially tested positive for a laboratory test, was free of Covid-19. The counter test was negative. It was believed that the first officer had a low viral load, an issue that allowed him to overcome the disease quickly. Most of the tests and retests were carried out by a private laboratory, but three were carried out directly by the Same, the health authority on the matter. In any case, the entire crew must comply with some days of isolation for prevention. The Somu hotel in Mar del Plata will receive them in the next few hours.
Crew members waiting for test results
Four crew members of the 'Scirocco' were waiting for the results of the swabs that were carried out yesterday to confirm if they were infected with Covid 19 on April 25, and based on that, it was to be defined where they will spend the next few days. The tests were carried out in the afternoon of April 24. Among the four crew members who underwent the analyzes, one of them was the first officer who had already tested positive for coronavirus while the rest were close contacts. The results, after being analyzed at the National Institute of Epidemiology (INE), will determine the fate of the sailors. Meanwhile, the rest of the crew carried out massive tests that will be borne by the Solimeno company.
Ship quarantined in Mar del Plata
The health authorities of Mar del Plata authorized the mooring of the 'Scirocco' in the city's port, the first officer of which has been infected with coronavirus. The ship berthed at the overseas dock parallel to the 'Atlantic Surf III on April 23 at 11.30 p.m. In the afternoon the city's health authorities had given permission to enter Mar del Plata. The health authorities were planning to carry out a new swab of the first officer and a companion with whom he traveled from Buenos Aires to the city on April 25. The two were in good health in a cabin together. They have no symptoms but a new test must be done. The 30 crew members will quarantine aboard the ship and will not be transferred to a hotel.
