Tanker in collision with destroyer, another destroyer hit fishing vessel

Tue Oct 03 19:20:31 CEST 2017 Timsen

On Oct 3, 2017, at 9 a.m. the "Everrich 3" was in collision with the ROC Navy Keelung (Kidd)-class destroyer "Tso Ying (DDG-1803)" at Kaohsiung while leaving the port. The destroyer was berthed at the No. 10 pier of Kaohsiung’s Cijin Harbor when the tanker, which was making a turn, clipped its stern at about 8:30 a.m., causing a deep dent and breach, the tanker’s bow also sustained dents and probably a breach. The tanker was detained for surveys, and an investigation has been launched by the Kaohsiung Maritime Port Bureau. The same day the destroyer "Keelung (DDG-1801)" collided with a fishing vessel that tried to overtake while returning to Su'ao Port in northeastern Taiwan. At 7:35 a.m. the destroyer ran into a fishing boa "Chin Fu En" , that was entering Suao harbor, denting the stern of the fishing boatNo injuries were reported and according to initial observations, the fishing vessel suffered light damage, while no damage was caused to the destroyer. Both destroyers were sold to Taiwan by the United States in 2001. The "Keelung" was delivered in 2005, while the "Tso Ying" was delivered in 2006.
