Engine failure off Ahırkapı
On Nov 11, 2024, the 'Saturn 1', while ballasting en route from Istanbul to Azov, suffered an engine failure in front of Ahırkapı. The tug 'Kurtarma 11' (IMO: 9854399) and a pilot were deployed to assist by the VTS Center in Istanbul. The ship was towed to Küçükçekmece and anchored in pos. 40° 57' N 028° 48' E for repairs.
Allision at Kavkaz
On Dec 13, 2017, at 7.14 a.m. the "Sea Leader" allided with the berthed tanker "SVL Unity" while unmooring at Kavkaz port. Both vessels sustained slight damages. On Dec 14 both ships remained moored at Kavkaz anchorage in the Kerch Strait. The "Sea Leader" loaded with 4316 tons of sunflower cake, bound for Izmir. The "SCL Unity" had arrived at Kavkaz port with a cargo of diesel oil.
