Engine failure off Crete
The 'Sann Tro, en route from Oktyabrsk to Tripoli, suffered an engine failure in vicinity 35 47 05.0N, 22 36 05.0E, West of Crete island on July 4, 2021. Repairs were commenced by the crew, while the vessel was drifting with the wind and the current.
Engine problems and missing crew communication reponsible for grounding
The log ship Hanjin Bombay ran aground in Tauranga harbour entrance on June 21, 2010 after engine problems were not communicated to the bridge, an inquiry into the grounding of a cargo ship finds. The fully loaded ship was leaving port for Korea when its main engine began overheating because of a malfunctioning valve. After divers of the Bay Underwater Services sealed a hole of about 2sqm by welding a patch over the leak, the “Hanjin Bombay” departed from Tauranga bound for Korea in the morning of June 28, 2010.
