Medevac off Southwest Pass

Sun Feb 24 17:02:53 CET 2019 Timsen

The US Coast Guard medevaced a man from the "San Fernando" in Southwest Pass, Louisiana, on Feb 23, 2019. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a report at 3 a.m. of a man with appendicitis-type symptoms aboard the tanker. A medevac of the man was delayed due to weather conditions. Sector watchstanders directed the launch of an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans at 11:30 a.m. The aircrew arrived on scene at noon, hoisted the man and transported him to University Hospital in stable condition.
