Pleasure boat towed to Las Palmas
On April 1, the pleasure boat 'Picacho 1' was disabled and went adrift, with one crew member on board, in the Boca Barranco area. The 'Salvamar Nunki' was mobilized by the CCS Las Palmas of Salvamento Marítimo. 456 migrants rescued off Canary Islands
Between Oct 14 and Oct 15, the CCS of Salvamento Marítimo in Las Palmas cooredinated the response to several migrant boats with on the whole 456 people on board off the Canary Islands. Involved were the 'Salvamar Al Nair', 'Salvamar Izar', 'Salvamar Macondo', 'Salvamar Nunki', the 'Guardamar Polimnia' and the SAR helicopter Helimer 201 . along with State Forces. During the early hours of Oct 15, the 'Salvamar Al Nair' assisted three boats with 133 people. One was carrying 35 people of North African origin, among them 29 men, three women and three minors. Another boat was located 16 miles from Arrecife with 45 people on board, among them 41 men, three women, one of them pregnant, and one minor, and a third had 53 sub-Saharan migrants, amoing them 50 men and three women on board. All castaways were taken to the port of Arrecife. The 'Guardamar Polimnia' assisted a boat 13 miles east of Lanzarote with 50 sub-Saharan people aboard, among the 40 men, nine women and one minor. They were also taken to Arrecife. Likewise, along with the SAR helicopter Helimer 201, a boat boat with 48 North Africans on board, among them 47 men and one woman, was assisted. The MRCC of Salvamento Marítimo has also mobilized the 'Salvamar Izar' to rescue 57 migrants of sub-Saharan origin, among them 41 men, 14 women and two minors, who were taken to Gran Tarajal, in Fuerteventura. Another boat was located 99 miles southeast of Maspalomas, and the 'Salvamar Nunki' proceeded to rescue 84 sub-Saharan people, among them 68 men, 14 women and two minors, who were taken to the port of Las Palmas. Meanwhile, the 'Salvamar Makondo' rescued 84 sub-Saharan migrants, among them 71 men, 11 women and two minors, who had left Dakhla on a rubber boat. Four SAR boats assisted five migrant boats
Since the morning of Oct 13, the CCS Las Palmas of Salvamento Marítimo coordinated the assistance to five precarious boats with a total of 299 people on board. The 'Guardamar Polimnia', the 'Salvamar Macondo', the 'Salvamar Nunki' and 'Salvmar Izar' were deployed to rescue te shipwrecked people, who were transferred to Arrecife, Aguineguín, Las Palmas and Puerto del Rosario.
