37 migrants rescued in two missions.
The SAR boat 'Salvamar Spica rescued 17 migrants from an inflatable boat 15 nautical miles eastsoutheast of Mesa Roldán on Sep 12. They were subsequently transferred to the port of Almería. The 'Salvamar Draco' rescued 20 migrants from another inflatable boat, which had been sighted by the Guardia Civil 22 nautical miles southeast of Cartagena. They were subsequently taken to this port and taken care of by shore based services.
Yacht refloated off San Juan de los Terreros
On Aug 27, the sailing yacht 'AcacioÄ ran aground in the waters of San Juan de los Terreros, Almería. The 'Salvamar Draco', with support from the LS 'Pandora' of the Cruz Roja in Almeria, managed to refloat it. The operation was a success, as they pulled from various angles to avoid damaging the sailboat. Subsequently, they escorted it to the PD Juan Montiel. 17 migrants rescued off Cartagena
On Aug 25, a merchant ship sighted a small boat seve nautical miles south of Cartagena. The CCS Cartagena of Salvamento Marítimo mobilized the 'Salvamar Draco', which rescued the 17 ocupants of Maghrebi origin and transferred them to Cartagena.
