Motorboat towed to Ibiza

The engine of the motorboat 'Xatona', with four crew members on board, began to smoke when they tried to start it, and the crew requested assistance in Cala Olivera (Ibiza), near the rocks. The RCC of Salvamento Marítimo in Palma mobilized the 'Salvamar Acrux', which took the boat in tow and safely pulled it to theMarina Ibiza, where it was docked at 5:40 p.m.

Leaking yacht towed to Ibiza

The yacht 'Makai' suffered an uncontrollable leak in pos. 39 03 00 N, 001 45 00 E nine nautical miles northeast of Tagomago Island on Aug 1, 2023. The CCS Palma of Salvamento Marítimo mobilized the 'Salvamar Acrux', the crew of which managed to control the water ingress and towed the boat to the port of Eivissa in Ibiza.

17 persons rescued from blazing luxury yacht

In the afternoon of Aug 12 a fire broke out on the luxury yacht 'Irmao', 106 gt (built 1995), owned by professional poker player Diego Gómez González, aka "The Lion," at Formentera. The fire started at the stern of the vessel at around 5.30 a.m. when the 'Irmao' was anchored in Cavall d'en Borràs in front of the famous restaurant El Tiburon.Most of the 17 people onboard, 12 guests and five crew members, jumped into the water as the fire spread throughout the vessel within short time. Private boats rescued the 17 people . One of them, a 30 year old crew member, suffered minor burns and was treated in hospital, but has since been released. The fire quickly engulfed the yacht. The 'Salvamar Acrux' took the blazing boat further out to sea, where the wreck sank at 9 a.m. On Aug 13, first responders conducted a summary investigation of the wreckage site and determined there was no risk of pollution in the area.
