Ferry forgot foot passengers
When the 'Salish Eagle' sailed out of Tsawwassen heading for Galiano Island on Sep 16, 2022, it forgot most of its walk-on passengers while it loaded traffic. The vessel had been given clearance and was just in the departure process when the error was realized. The ferry turned around and returned to dock to pick up the waiting passengers. About 25 of 34 foot passengers on the late-afternoon sailing were left behind. The mistake put the ship about 25 minutes behind schedule.
Ferry suffered technical issue
The ferry service between Powell River and Comox has been cancelled on Feb 18, 2019, as the "Salish Eagle" was experiencing a problem with it’s right angle drive. The following sailings have been cancelled. 3:25 pm departing Little River; 5:15 pm departing Powell River: 7:10 pm departing Little River: 8:45 pm departing Powell River. All morning sailings were cancelled as well. An alternate route of travel is available via Departure Bay to Horseshoe Bay, Horseshoe Bay to Langdale and Earls Cove to Saltery Bay.
Ferry lost anchor and chain during drill
The "Salish Eagle" suffered problems with its No. 2 anchor on the sea bottom while carrying out anchor drills in US waters in position 48 59.14 N, 123 06.76 W, on Jan 6, 2019, at 4.35 p.m. The vessel disconnected its anchor and chain and proceeded to the Deas Dock, Richmond, British Columbia.
