The 'Sabuk Nusaantara' ran aground twice in less than 48 hours in the waters of the Raja Ampat Regency, West Papua. The first grounding occurred on Feb 2, 2021, around 2 a.m. enroute from Sorong to Waisilip Village. The vessel was refloated short time later and resumed its voyage to Kampung Waisilip. On Feb 3 it sailed agaoin at midnight but got stuck on a reef enroute from Waisilip to Gag Island at 3 p.m. near its destination with 50 passengers and 15 crew members on board.
