Ferry ran aground off Raja Ampat
On June 7, 2019, the "Sabuk Nusantara 56" ran aground in the waters of Raja Ampat (Ayau Island), in West Papua. The Directorate General of Sea Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation deployed the buoy lighthouse tender KN "Yefyus" (IMO: 9842695) to transport a number of passengers from Ayau Island, Fani Island and Kabare who were preparing to go to Sorong. On June 10 and 11 it carried a total of 233 people. The local authorities attempted to refloat the ferry with a tug which was unsuccessful. A team of divers was dispatched to conduct an underwater survey.
