Roman Elie assisted distressed pleasure craft
The "Roman Elie" jointly with the m/v "Family Therapy" assisted the 55-ft-motor yacht "Strike Zone II" with nine people aboard taking on water 17 miles off South Pass near Venice in the evening of Apr 23, 2016. A mayday call was relayed to the Coast Guard around 5 p.m. from the offshore supply vessel, reporting that the pleasure craft was rapidly taking on water and attempting to return to shore. Both Good Samaritans responded to the scene to assist the "Strike Zone II", transferred some of the crew off the distressed vessel and provided dewatering pumps. The Coast Guard sent a response boat and helicopter crew to assist. The Coast Guard towed the Strike Zone II back to Cypress Cove Marina in Venice. No one aboard the boat was injured.
