De Walnood 2 replacing damaged bridge

The pedestrians ferry "De Walnood 2" was sent to the Burgervlot Bridge which was disabled after having been hit by the "Robbenzand". During the next month the small ferry is to carry pedestrians, cyclists and mopeds over the North Holland Canal The boat is running from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. each day. Robbenzand hit bridge

The "Robbenzand" allided with the Burgervlot Bridge in the morning of Mar 8, 2012. The floating bridge which is spanning the Noordhollands Canal was hit at 11.00 a.m. when the "Robbenzand" veered off course and ran into its side. An investigation of Provinciale Waterstaat showed that a bar had snapped. The repair of the bridge will take a few months. For pedestrians and cyclists a ferry was brought into service. Cars must detour through Schoorldam or St. Maartensvlot Bridge.
