Two injured in allision in Portoferraio
The "Rio Marina Bella" allided with a pier while docking at Portoferraio upon Elba island on Oc 29, 2017, at 9.35 p.m. after the arrival from Piombino, where she had sailed at 8.30 p.m., with about 150 passengers and 50 vehicles on board. Two passengers were injured from a sharp jolt, one woman fell and suffered a fractured ankle. The Green Cross of Portoferraio brought her to the emergency room of the Portoferraio hospital for treatment. The portside stern ramp and the hull were damaged, the aft suffered a breach above the waterline. The ship has been replaced by the "Moby Bastia", which secured the service between Portoferraio and Piombino along with the other vessels of Moby Lines and Toremar. It was yet unclear when the "Rio Marina Bella" would be able to return to service. The accident was investigated by the Port Master's technical office.
