Car Carrier refloated

On Oct 8 at 1 p.m. the "Repubblica Argentina" was refloated by seven tugs, 11 hours after its grounding on the Wester Scheldt following an engine failure. The ship was moored in Flushing at 4.50 p.m. Rijkswaterstaat had the on-scene-command. As a precaution anti-pollution-vessels were on scene. Car carrier stuck off Antwerp

The "Republica Argentina" ran aground at Nauw van Bath enroute Antwerp-Dakar on Oct 8 at 1.30 a.m. on a sandbank off South-Beveland. As the tide was running out, no refloating attempt was undertaken at once. The next flood is at 1.30 p.m. Some Dutch and Belgian tugs, a police boat and a craft of Rijkswaterstaat gathered around the ship. The grounding was caused by an engine failure.
