Isaac pushed bulker aground

Tue Sep 04 09:42:37 CEST 2012 Timsen

The hurricane Isaac pushed the "Arosa" aground on the Mississippi on Aug 29, 2012, in Plaquemines Parish in South Louisiana whilst coming from New Orleans. Strong wind gusts pushed the vessel onto the embankment while the ship was sheltering at anchor. There was no danger for the crew of the unloaded ship. On Sep 1 tugs tried to pull the vessel off, but due to the stormy weather the water level had receded. The hull was aground on full length. The owners Massoel are working closely with the US Coast Guard regarding the salvage of the ship which was thought to take 3-4 weeks.
