Tanker barge grounded in Visjagersgatje

Mon Nov 18 11:43:12 CET 2019 Timsen

The 'Reggestroom', 2127 ts (EU-No.: 02320419), loaded with 1600 tons of gas oil, got stuck in the Visjagersgatje between Den Oever and Den Helder in the night of Nov 16, 2019. Rijkswaterstaat was alerted around midnight and started lightering the barge on Nov 17 around 11 a.m. A part of the cargo of about 300 tons was pumped aboard the 'MTS Scheldt', reducing the draught by 35 centimeters. During high tide, the 'Reggestroom' was refloated and was on its way to Den Helder for an inspection at noon. No oil has leaked. As a precaution, oil booms were laid out. Passing ship traffic was not affected by the salvage operation.
