Medevac in Falmouth Bay

Tue Jul 16 11:42:03 CEST 2024 Timsen

A passenger has been evacuated from the 'Regal Princes' off Cornwall on the morning of July 15, 2024. The ship was en route from Southampton to Cobh, County Cork, when the Falmouth Coastguard was called around 8 a.m. following reports of a medical emergency of a passenger on board the cruise ship. The crews waited for the ship to enter Falmouth Bay, before they could safely evacuate the casualty. Around 10.30 a.m., the lifeboat made its way into the bay, reaching the 'Regal Princess' by 10.45 a.m. Two paramedics were also on board the lifeboat to provide care to the casualty immediately. Once emergency crews had the casualty on the lifeboat, they were transported back to the lifeboat house, from where the passenger was rushed to hospital for further treatment. Medevac off St. Davids Head

Mon May 08 12:17:50 CEST 2023 Timsen

The RNLI St Davids volunteer lifeboat was paged on May 4, 2023, at 12:05 p.m. after the 'Regal Princess' requested assistance to extract a passenger suffering from a medical issue. Both the ALB 'Norah Wortley' and the Coastguard Rescue helicopter 187 were requested to attend, with the helicopter being the preferred extraction option. The 'Norah Wortley' arrived alongside the cruise ship 20 nautical miles northwest of St. Davids Head, almost midpoint between Wales and Ireland. The helicopter had arrived shortly before the lifeboat and the winchman was already on the ship as the lifeboat came alongside. The St. Davids crew stood by whilst both the casualty and partner were winched safely aboard the helicopter. With winching operations concluded the helicopter took the casualty directly to hospital and the lifeboat returned to station, rehousing at approximately 2:30 p.m. Report with photo: https://rnli.org/news-and-media/2023/may/05/st-davids-rnli-called-to-cruise-ship-in-st-georges-channel
