Pucara saved eight fishermen

Wed Sep 23 11:17:48 CEST 2020 Timsen

The Argentine flagged 21,5-m-trawler “Carmelo A” sank in the evening of Sep 22, 2020, while operating on mackerel in the area known as “El Rincón”, located in the extreme south of the province of Buenos Aires. The eight crew members were rescued by the “Pucará” from a liferaft after abandoning ship. They arrived at Pier 10 in the port of Mar del Plata in the night of Sep 23. After undergoing a medical examination, they were able to return home. The crew consisted of Guillermo Eugenio Cejas (captain), Héctor Carnesalli (engineer), Gustavo Damián Lunay (engine assistant) and the deckhands Diego Ricardo Scrosoppi, David Ismael Rodríguez, Jonathan Herrera, Juan Javier Machado and Ezequiel Jorgensen. The "Don Nicola" was deployed by the Prefecture to mark the wrecksite, it also sent a helicopter to the area which remarked a thin oil film. The weather conditions were good in the area. The wreck was resting in a water depth of 45 meters with its load of 1,200 boxes of fish. Report with video: https://www.pescare.com.ar/carmelo-a-imagenes-del-area-donde-se-hundio-la-embarcacion/
