Conversion Work begins on Ghana's second FPSO
The conversion of a giant tanker vessel for the country’s second floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) platform for additional daily production of 80,000 barrels of oil has begun in the Jurong Shipyard in Singapore. The vessel known as the Centennial J, originally a bulk oil trading tanker, was bought by the TEN Project Partners to be converted into the FPSO for the Tweneboa, Enyira and Ntomme oil fields development known as Project TEN. When completed, the Project TEN would become the country’s second commercial oil and gas project which would push daily production to 200,000 barrels per day. Currently, the FPSO Kwame Nkrumah produces a total of 110,000 barrels of oil per day and hopes to ramp up to a plateau of 120,000 barrels per day. The jubilee project is said to have so far produced more than 84 million barrels and shipped to the international market.
