Tanker sank cable llayer

Mon Jan 14 09:42:21 CET 2019 Timsen

On Jan 13, 2019, at 6.30 a.m. the cable layer "Star Centurion", (IMO:9241712), was severely damaged in the collision with the "Antea", which was enroute Singapore to Ambon, in Bintan waters, Riau Islands, at the eastern entrance to the Singapore Strait in Tanjungberakit. The Indonesian Navy and Singaporean authorities deployed several vessels to the site, and all 22 crew members went into boats and were rescued. The ship capsized and was almost completely under water resting on its port side in vicinity 01 24 N 104 35 E in the Horsburgh OPL zone. The tanker crew was not injured, the ship suffered hull damage and moved to Singaporean waters where it moored in pos. 01° 24.44' N 104° 47.69' E for investigations. The Navy has deployed the KRI "Pulau Rusa", KRI "Surik" and KRI "Anakonda" to the location to prevent other ships from entering the area. So far there was no indication of an oil spill.
