Bids for disposal of former Navy ships
Public Services and Procurement Canada has put out a request for bids from industry for the disposal of the former HMCS "Preserver" and the CFAV "Quest2, an auxiliary research ship used by the Canadian Forces. The winning contractor will be required to prepare the ships for disposal, remove any equipment for museums, demilitarize controlled goods on board and then break the vessels up. Bids were being required by April 26, 2017. Work on the former HMCS "Preserver" must begin when the contact is awarded and be completed with 18 months. The former CFAV "Quest" will be provided to the winning bidder on Sept. 1. It must be dismantled within 18 months. Both ships must be removed from the Halifax dockyard jetty by the contractor.
