The "Chem Polaris" suffered an engine failure while maneuvering in the Iroquois Lock, while sailing downstream the St. Lawrence River, on June 15, 2017, at 08.14 a.m. The vessel damaged the lock’s fender boom, an arresting cable,. In the morning of June 16, the tanker was still inside the Iroquois Lock which was barred for ship traffic. She was en route from Hamilton to Portsmouth, USA.
