Allision in Ceuta
The 'Poniente Jet'' with 48 passengers and 15 crew members on board, allided with the quay while docking at the Port of Ceuta on June 21, 2024, at around 3 p.m., after having left Algeciras at 1:30 p.m. Damage to the bow and the port facilities remained minor, no injuries were reported. The ship finally arrived at its usual berth with the help of a tug, harbour pilots, and a Civil Guard vessel, which brought the ferry closer to the dock. The ship was scheduled to depart again for Algeciras at around 3:30 p.m., but ultimately the sailing was cancelled. The ship has been operating the Algeciras-Ceuta route for the past couple of weeks, replacing the 'Levante Jet', which was withdrawn due to a technical stop. Ferry service cancelled again
The 'Poniente Jet' has cancelled all its departures on the Algeciras-Ceuta-Algeciras route on March 4, 2025. According to the Port Authority, the FRS Ferry company has made the decision to suspend all departures of the ship, arguing operational reasons that, so far, have not been detailed in depth. This cancellation added to the cancellations on March 3, that have affected the operation of the service. The Port Authority has urged those affected to be attentive to the updates that will be published on the official channels of FRSFerry and the port itself, in the hope that the situation will return to normal in the shortest possible time. The repeated cancellation of its departures raises questions about the effectiveness of the measures adopted to resolve the operational problems that have plagued the company. The port authorities continued to monitor the situation closely and undertake to report as soon as new details are available on the resumption of the service.
