Medevac at Steenbank anchorage

Tue May 15 09:16:38 CEST 2012 Timsen

On May 13, 2012, at 3 p.m. the liefeboat "Koopmansdank" of the KNRM station Neeltje Jans was mobilized for a medevac on the Northsea. A Philippine crew member of the "Philipp Essberger", which was anchoring at Steenbank 15 miles west of the station, had severe abdominal pain. After consultation with the Coastguard Centre in Den Helder and the Radio Medical Service, it was decided to pick up the sailor with the lifeboat. The "Koopmansdank" delivered the man to an ambulance which was already waiting in Neeltje Jans which transported him to the hospital.
