Passengers were forgotten and trapped in car deck

Tue Jul 08 11:33:51 CEST 2025 Timsen

On July 4, 2025, passengers were forgotten on the 'Peter Pan', serving between Trelleborg and Świnoujście. At 11 p.m. it was announced over the vessel's loudspeakers that after a journey of about seven hours, they were about to arrive in the port of Świnoujście. The passengers returned to the car deck, which until then had been locked during the crossing. The passengers on car deck 1 were then forgotten on the deck. The ramp to the deck above – and to the exit – was closed. After an hour, people started to get restless. Some tried to get help and took the stairs up to the upper decks. First they couldn't find any of the crew. Eventually they realised that they had been forgotten, and that the ship had started loading new cars for the return journey. Finally, a passenger found a receptionist. They were then told that they had been forgotten. An officer then came down to car deck 1. Passengers also notified the port authority in Świnoujście who called the police. After that, all the cars were unloaded. According to the port office in Świnoujście, the crew was tested for alcohol, with negative results.
