Repairs of collision damage completed
The former "SE Pacifica" has left the Antwerp Shiprepair and dropped anchor off Flushing at Westhinder anchorage on Sep 18 at 8.45 p.m., now renamed "Pacifica".
Collision off Niewupoort
The tank m/v "King Emerald" after having arrived from Purfleet, was in collision with the "SE Pacifica" ten kilometers off the coast of Nieuwpoort and De Panne in the evening of Aug 20, 2016. The accident happened in the Westhinder anchorage area when one of the ships went adrift in strong winds. The tug "Zeehond" (IMO: 8843549) was called to assist. The "SE Pacifica" suffered severe damage at starboard side in the stern region and the superstructure and was towed to Flushing for repairs, the "King Emerald" which had suffered minor damage at the starboard side foreship headed to Antwerp for repairs and berthed at Antwerp Shiprepair on Aug 22 at 10.30 a.m.
SE Pacifica with 42 Ukrainian armored vehicles stuck off Iraq since March
General cargo vessel SE Pacifica stuck in Persian Gulf with 42 armored vehicles on board since March 2013, since the Iraqi army rejected vehicles as defective. Vehicles produced in Ukraine were loaded in Ilyichevsk port. Vessel reportedly, is drifting or anchored in northern part of Persian Gulf, half way between Kuwait and Bushehr, Iran. According to Ukrainian media, the sellers of the vehicles, arms exporting state companies Ukrspezexport and Ukroboronservice, don’t compensate to the vessel’s operator his losses.
