Bulk carrier stuck under Hoang Van Thu Bridge

Thu Apr 21 19:02:40 CEST 2022 Timsen

The 'Outrivaling 3' suffered an engine failure and went adrift in Hai Phong under the Hoang Van Thu bridge on April 21, at 4.21 p.m. The disabled ship crashed into the embankment, broke a piece of railing and then stopped. Fortunately, the river level was not high enough for an allision with the Hoang Van Thu bridge.Seven tugs of the Hai Phong Port Towing and Transport Joint Stock Company were called to assist. At 9:45 p.m. the ship could be pulled out. Many forces such as police, army, and maritime safety have been mobilized to the scene, and the bridge was barred for traffic. The ship was loaded with iron and steel and headed from Shanghai to Hai Phong. Following the salvage, the 'Outrivaling 3' docked at The Hoang Dieu Terminal to unload. The Hai Phong Port Authority will investigate and verify the cause of the incident.
