Allision in Emden

On Apr 10, 2017, at 7.30 p.m. the Onego Merchant" allided with the lock in Emden while departing port. The ship's accomodation block contacted a deflector rail of the lock, which then ripped out. The masonry with the light signaling system of the Binnenhauptes broke out on a large area. Because the parts dropped into the water, the lock was barred for shipping until divers had checked the safety of the lock functions. The ship itself suffered only little material damage and was released three hours after the incident. She continued the voyage to Hawkesbury, ETA Apr 20.
